Privacy Policy BotsApp

This Privacy Policy describes how BotsApp ("the App", "we", "us") — published on Google Play under the package name com.boxi.botsapp by Boxi — handles your information.

The short version: BotsApp has no accounts and stores your chats and API keys only on your device. Your messages go only to the AI provider you choose. The App shows banner ads through Google AdMob, which uses your device's advertising identifier as described below.

1. Information We Collect

We do not operate any servers of our own, and we do not collect your chats, your API keys, or your personal identity. BotsApp has:

  • No user accounts and no sign-up
  • No analytics of our own and no crash-reporting services
  • No servers of our own — the App communicates only with the AI provider you configure and with Google's ad service

Advertising (Google AdMob). BotsApp displays banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, AdMob and its partners may access and process your device's advertising ID, coarse/approximate information (such as general location inferred from IP address), and device/usage information. This data is collected and used by Google, not by us, and is governed by Google's policies. See how Google uses this information, and manage or reset your advertising ID and opt out of ad personalization in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads).

2. Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device only and never leaves it except as described in Section 3:

  • Chat history — your conversations are saved in a private database inside the App's sandboxed storage so you can revisit them.
  • API keys — the key(s) you paste in Settings are encrypted at rest using the Android Keystore before being saved.
  • Preferences — theme, font size, default model, system prompt, and similar settings.

You can permanently delete all of this at any time from Settings → Clear All Chat History and Settings → Delete All API Keys, or by uninstalling the App.

3. Data Sent to AI Providers

When you send a message, the App transmits your message text (and prior messages in the same conversation, plus your optional system prompt) directly over HTTPS to the AI provider whose API key you configured:

This transmission happens under your own account with that provider, governed by that provider's privacy policy and terms. We are not a party to that relationship, and we never see, receive, or store your messages, responses, or keys. Do not include sensitive personal information in your chats unless you are comfortable with your chosen provider's data practices.

4. AI-Generated Content

Responses in BotsApp are generated by third-party AI models. They may occasionally be inaccurate or inappropriate. You can report any problematic AI response from within the App (long-press a response → "Report response").

5. Children's Privacy

BotsApp is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App serves advertising through Google AdMob; ad behavior is subject to Google's policies.

6. Security

  • API keys are encrypted at rest with AES-256 via the Android Keystore.
  • All network traffic uses HTTPS/TLS.
  • Chat history lives in the App's private, sandboxed storage that other apps cannot access.

7. Your Rights & Data Deletion

Because all data lives on your device, you are in full control:

  • Delete chats: Settings → Clear All Chat History
  • Delete keys: Settings → Delete All API Keys
  • Reset advertising ID / opt out of personalized ads: device Settings → Google → Ads
  • Delete everything: uninstall the App

No deletion request to us is necessary — we hold no data about you on our own servers. For data held by your AI provider or by Google (AdMob), contact that provider or manage it through your Google account.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we ever change how the App handles data, we will update this policy and revise the effective date above before the change takes effect.
