Raksha Setu is a small, single-purpose app that lets two siblings perform a synchronized, AR-assisted virtual Rakhi-tying ceremony over a live video call.
We do not run a database. We do not have accounts. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers, and we do not use any analytics or advertising SDKs. The app asks only for Camera and Microphone, and only so you can make the live call and see the Rakhi on your wrist. Your hand-tracking happens entirely on your own phone.
1. Who we are
Raksha Setu is developed and published by Boxi ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what data the app touches, why, and the limited cases in which any of it leaves your device.
2. Information we collect
We (the developer) collect no personal information on any server. We operate no backend user database, no sign-up, and no login. You are never asked for your name, email, phone number, contacts, or location.
The app handles the following data locally on your device:
| Data | Why | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Camera frames | To show your video and to detect your open hand so the Rakhi can be drawn on your wrist (AR overlay) | Processed on-device in real time. Hand-tracking frames are never uploaded. |
| Microphone audio | So you and your sibling can hear each other during the call | Streamed live only during an active call (see §3). Not recorded or stored. |
| Recent room codes / nickname | So you don't have to retype a code | Stored only on your device (Android DataStore). Not linked to your identity, excluded from cloud backup, and deleted when you uninstall. |
We do not collect: precise or approximate location, contacts, SMS/call logs, your phone number, device advertising ID, health data, financial data, or any persistent identifier that tracks you across apps.
3. Data shared with third parties
The only data that ever leaves your device is the live audio and video of your call, and only while a call is active:
- LiveKit provides the real-time transport that carries your audio/video between you and the sibling you invited. The media is ephemeral — used to deliver the call in real time and not stored by us. This transfer happens only during an active ceremony, and only with the person who joined your room using your code.
We do not share any data with advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics providers, because the app integrates none.
4. Permissions we request
- Camera (
android.permission.CAMERA) — required for your live video and for on-device hand tracking that places the Rakhi on your wrist. Each permission is explained on its own in-app screen before we ask. - Microphone (
android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO) — required so you can talk to your sibling during the ceremony.
The app requests no other runtime permissions. There is no background location, no foreground service, and no notifications permission.
5. How your information is used
Strictly to make the ceremony work: to render your camera preview, run on-device hand detection, connect the live call, synchronize the "tie" moment between the two phones, and remember your recent room codes locally for convenience. Nothing is used for advertising, profiling, or resale.
6. Data retention & deletion
- On-device data (recent room codes, nickname, last-picked Rakhi design) stays on your device until you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes it completely.
- Call media is not retained by us at all — it exists only for the duration of the live call.
Because we hold no data about you on any server, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf. To remove everything the app stores, uninstall it or clear its storage in Android Settings → Apps → Raksha Setu → Storage.
7. Children's privacy
Raksha Setu is a general-audience app and is not directed at children. It contains no child-directed content, no ads, and no data collection. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Security
Live call media is transported over encrypted WebRTC connections. Data stored on your device is protected by Android's app sandbox. Because we keep no central store of user data, there is no server-side database of personal information to breach.
9. Your rights
As we collect no personal data on a server, there is no profile to access, correct, export, or erase. You remain in full control of the on-device data described above and can remove it at any time by uninstalling the app.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change what the app does with data, we will update this policy and revise the "Last updated" date above before shipping the change. Material changes will be reflected in the app's Play Store listing.
